Charles Lester Haas, age 90 of Riverside, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He was born July 18, 1927 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Jacob and Caroline Haas.
Charles served in Japan as a Medic in the U.S. Army during WWII. Charles was formerly a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was an avid train and coin collector. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Haas; great-grandson, Jeremy VanCisco; brothers, Jacob Haas and Richard Haas and sister, Mary Clifford.
Charles will be missed by his two daughters, Martha (Donald) VanCisco and Sue Ann (Daniel) Severt; seven grandchildren, Donald VanCisco, Michael VanCisco, James Severt, Steven Severt, Lindsey Hall, Sean Severt and Jonathan Severt; eleven great-grandchildren, Brittany VanCisco, Sarah VanCisco, Hannah VanCisco, Haydon VanCisco, Kaeleahann Hall, Liam Hall, Aiden Severt, Klara Severt, Daymian Severt, Ireland Cheers and Desmond Severt. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Family will receive friends Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Fairview Memorial Park, 111 S.R. 435, Moscow, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Charles' memory to the American Cancer Society.
