EVANS, Charles L., born in Russellville, Alabama, September 3, 1945 went home to the Lord on October 12, 2008. Charles was the eldest son of James Sr. and Ernestine Evans of Lima Ohio. He graduated from Lima High School where he was President of his Junior & Senior class. He attended Wilberforce University and graduated from Capital University. He was employed at Monarch Marking Co. for 22 years, at Reynolds and Reynolds, Relizon, and the City of Dayton. Charles is preceded in death by his father, James, Sr.; brother, James, Jr.; and his sister, Nancy Jo. He was married and from that union had a daughter, LaDonna Joy (Evans) Dehart. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife, of 28 1/2 years, Joyce Marie; his mother, Ernestine Evans; daughter, LaDonna (Chris) Dehart; nephew, Marice Evans; step-daughters, Antoinette (Haderd) Shefeek, Linda and Donnetti Brooks; four grandchildren, Tamarah (Manuel), Rashad (Taneka), Gerrold and Mya; five great grandchildren, Maria, Maxwell, and McKenzie, Mekhi and Taj; three sisters-in-law, Janice Davies-May, Jo Ann Hathcock, and Jacqueline Farmer; six brothers-in-law, William-Richard (Myra), Roberto (Karla), James (Carman), Phillip Hathcock, Michael (Sherry) Boyd, Robert (Janet) Browder and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends; special friends, Charles McDaniel and wife and Thomas Stricker. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00AM Saturday October 18, 2008 at St Benedict the Moor Catholic Church, 519 Liscum Dr. Family will receive friends from 10:00AM until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Building Fund at St. Benedict the Moor Church.
