Charles D. Countiss, age 72 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on July 12 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on July 22, 1941 in Monterey, Tennessee. He retired from construction work due to injury. He enjoyed fishing and modifying his recreational vehicles. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles C. and Ethel M. (Hurt) Countiss of Dayton, Ohio; brothers: (infant) Tommy, Joe, and Jim "JC" Countiss; nephew and niece: Joey and Tammy Countiss.

Charles is survived by sisters-in-law: Joyce C. Countiss of New Lebanon, Ohio and Kathy Countiss of Riverside, Ohio; nieces: Jamie L. (Rodney T.) Countiss Hubbard of New Lebanon, Ohio, Sheril McCoy of New Paris, Ohio, and Robin Spurlock of New Lebanon, Ohio; step-daughter, Moriah Nash and ex-wife, Rosemary Nash, both of Dayton, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 3-4 pm. Contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society in honor of all of Charles' family members who died from cancer.
