Charles "Chuck" Eakins
December 15, 1940 — June 7, 2013
Charles E. Eakins, age 72 of Dayton, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 at The Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Waverly Sr., and Ula Mae (Walker) Eakins; son, Charles Eakins, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Jeanette (Filbrun) Eakins; brothers, Earl (Marilyn) Eakins, Waverly (Karen) Eakins, Jr.; son, Brent Eakins; daughter, LeeAnn (Chad) Barkman; grandchildren, Lucy Barkman, Kimber Barkman and Joshua Eakins; two great-grandchildren; step-children, Daniel C. (Colette) Howell and Alodene Howell; one step-granddaughter, Lena; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Chuck was fortunate to spend his career as a musician and teaching music to others. He enjoyed working with his hands and spending time enjoying nature. Chuck was former Director of Germania Chorus in Evansville. He was also Associate Director of Eintracht Singing Society and a member of Dayton Liederkranz.
