(This is the obituary of Charles Everett Bunnell as written by Mr. Bunnell and typed by his daughter, Denise Marie (Bunnell) Tye on December 3, 2022.)
Charles E. Bunnell, CMSgt, USAF (ret), passed away on December 13, 2023, at Hospice of Dayton. Born October 27, 1941, in Auburn, New York, son of Charles E. and Alice J. (Baker-Armeson) Bunnell, he started his 25-year Air Force career after high school in 1960. After retirement from active duty, Charlie spent 16 years as an Air Force civilian employee.
He married Patricia L. (Castiglione) Bunnell, daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Guarino) Castiglione, of Auburn, NY on October 27, 1962. That started a shared lifetime of hobbies and undreamed-of travel, with 6 of 14 assignments being overseas. A son Charles J. (1963) and Daughter Denise M. (1965), added to the adventure.
Family activities and hobbies, besides travel, included Boy and Girl Scouting, car races and rallies (ask Patti about the farmer's truck), "professional" photography, pottery making, skiing, volksmarching, castle exploring (yes, Denise, another castle), language learning, genealogy research and publishing and British Car Clubs (thanks Chuck and Jeff, for carrying that torch).
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Armeson McCall, brothers William E. Bunnell and Frank Armeson, sister-in-law Carin Armeson, and nephew Eric Armeson.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, son Charles and daughter Denise (Jeff) Tye, grandchildren Michelle (Fiancée Tony), Thomas (Fiancé Hope) and Everett (Anya) Tye, many friends and family members.
Thank you, Lord, for a life far richer and blessed than what I deserved.
