Charles P. "Buddy" Bruce, age 70 of Xenia, OH, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, in at his home in Xenia.

Buddy was born September 28, 1950 in Xenia, the son of William E. and Esther M. (Johnson) Bruce, both of whom preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by six brothers: William (Butchie), Murl (Danny), Robert (Bobby), Theodore (Teddy) Gail Bruce, James (Jimmy, Flyway); six sisters: Alice (Jean), Edith (Eddy), Lindell (Linda), Judy, Barbara (Barb), and Geraldine (Gerrie).

He is survived by one son, Christopher Bruce, and one daughter, Charli Ann Bruce; grandsons: Shane, Camron, Carter, and Don Cord Sr.; his companion, Tina Dorn, and a host of nieces, and nephews.

Buddy loved to play the saxophone, take photographs, and spend time with his family. His greatest joy and love was martial arts in which he held a 4th degree black belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate. He was also an instructor along with his brothers at Bruce's Martial Arts & Street Self Defense. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Xenia, Ohio. After completing his education with the Ohio Police Academy, he joined the Wilberforce University Police Department from 1972 - 1974. He then joined the Xenia Police Department from 1975 - 1990. He then joined the Greene County Coroner's Office, Xenia, Ohio (Medical-Legal Death Investigator) 1990 - 1995, then joined the Montgomery County Coroner's Office, Dayton, Ohio (Forensic Death Investigator) 1995 - 2000. His last job before retirement was at KFDA-TV News Channel 10 Amarillo, Texas (Storm Tracker/Chaser) 2000 - 2010. While serving on the Xenia Police Department, he was a Detective, Evidence Tech, Fire/Arson Investigator, and video and photo lab technician. He was a supervisor and trainer of the Xenia SWAT team.

The family would like to thank the City Day Hospice for their kindness and loving care during Buddy's illness. Special thanks to Kellie Clemons for her care and support. The family would like to say a special thanks to Donald Clark and all his friends from Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Orphans' Home.
