Charles Lee Barnes, age 74, passed away Thursday, 27 December 2018 at the Village at the Greene in Beavercreek, Ohio. He was born July 7, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Evelyn (Stephens) Barnes. Charley was a proud US Navy veteran from 1964-1970 where he served in Vietnam with the Seabees. He received the Purple Heart for his devoted service in Vietnam. He also served in Guam and on the USS Midway Carrier. He was a disabled veteran for the remainder of his life due to his dedicated service to United States of America. Charley was a US Postal Letter Carrier for 26 years. He enjoyed golfing, photography, King Charles Spaniels and an avid movie watcher. Charley enjoyed antique automobiles including, 1920-1940 Fords, all Packards, Corvette Stingray and Porsche 356 cars. He is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (Randy) Abrams and Christine (Mark) Brown; siblings, Michael (Sue) Barnes and Jacqueline Barnes; several grandchildren and aunt, Amy Hand. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lourdes "Lou" Barnes; parents, Kenneth and Evelyn Barnes; aunt, Eileen Stephens. Private family services with military honors will take place at a later date at Dayton National Cemetery.
