Charles Thomas Baker aka Tommy Baker
Part of the so-called Silent Generation, Charles was born October 1, 1944 while his father was still serving in the US Army during the waning days of World War II. He grew up in the America portrayed in TV shows like "Leave It To Beaver" and "The Andy Griffith Show": Small town America, with nuclear families and traditional values.
In 1961 he graduated from Vandalia-Butler High School in Vandalia, Ohio and went on to earn an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. Later, he would complete training to become a certified travel agent.
For many years Charles was an Accounts Associate at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. He moved on to become a Travel Representative at Dayton's World Travel Partners office and, eventually, an employee of TECO Manufacturing in Union, Ohio.
Charles loved to travel. The whole Baker family traveled extensively during the summers while he was growing up and lived in Alaska for two years in the early 1950's. He eventually visited all 50 US states, as well as Canada, Mexico and the Middle East.
Charles had a loving heart. He cared for his parents until their deaths and was always there to support his younger sister.
He will be missed.
Charles is survived by his sister Nancy (George L. Dutt Jr.) Baker of Florida and assorted cousins in Indiana, Pennsylvania and Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents James F. and Jane D. Baker.
