Charles A. Baker, age 78 of Dayton, passed away September 13, 2014. He was born January 7, 1936 in Birmingham, AL to the late Willie and Velma Baker. Preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.
Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Daisy Baker; children: Jacqueline McKenzie, Lloyd McKenzie and Valerie (Bishop Willie) Metcalf; 8 grandchildren: Lerone, Wesley, Willie III (Fiana), Charles (Seante), Calvin, Kimberly, Michael and Lauren; 11 great grandchildren, including "his boys": Willie IV, Franklin and Josiah Metcalf; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Charles retired from Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center. He was a faithful member of Church of God of Prophecy.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Ministries Healing Heart, Church of God of Prophecy, 4251 Powell Road, Huber Heights, where visitation will begin at 10 am and the family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm. Bishop Willie Metcalf officiating. Arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road.
