GAU, Charles A.

Of Dayton, age 82, passed away June 21, 2014. He was born on September 20, 1931 to the late, Clifford V. and Goldie (Helmer) Gau.

He is also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Godfrey) Gau; four brothers, Lawrence, Elwood, Virgil, and Paul; three sisters, Ruth Bussell, Nora Czaplicki, and Audrey Milby; and great-granddaughter, Stacey Lynn Barns.

He is survived by sister, Lucille of FL; four daughters, Judy (Jesse) Johnson of Fairborn, Linda Gau (Tim Walls), Diana Long (Joe Shepherd) of Moriane, and Marsha Gau (Mike Knight) of Hillsboro; two sons, David of Dayton and Kenny (Lisa) Gau of FL; eight grandchildren, Eddy Thomas, Nicole (Bill) Shepherd, Jeremy (Sherrie) Johnson, Kelly Gau, Rusty (Jamie) Long, Rob (Cathy) Long, D.J. (Monica) Barns, and Amy (Chris) Thomas; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Charles was a United States veteran and served from 1950-1952.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 9:30 am until the time of service at 10:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - North, 4104 Needmore Rd. Officiating pastor, Brother Dan Smith. Interment to follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
