Charlene Rae Mercuri (Ewald), age 78, of Dayton, Ohio departed from this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 4, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents Erv and Mary Ewald; son Raymond Mercuri and grandson Victor Corey Mercuri. Charlene is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Mercuri; sons Steve and John Mercuri; daughters and son-in-laws Mickie and Chris Stevens, Debbie and Glen Riley and Kathy Keys; 11 grandchildren Nick Riley, Matt Mercuri, Danny Stevens, Jake Mercuri, Jessica Stevens, Allison Mercuri, Alyssa Mercuri, Sam Mercuri, Michelle Miller, Kyle Mercuri and Rachel Mercuri; 4 great grandchildren; cousins, 2nd cousins and several other family members. Such a kind and giving soul which will be so dearly missed. A graduate of St. Joseph High School and got an Associate's degree from Sinclair. She retired from General Motors-Delphi after 25 years of service where she worked as a purchasing agent. Charlene was a strong believer in her catholic faith and supported the St. Jude Foundation, March of Dimes, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls and so many more. She was an avid cook who loved having Sunday Supper in her home for 60 years, not only did she and her husband feed their own family but neighbors as well. A truly giving person who knitted winter hats for all who needed them. She was quiet the bowler in her younger years, she loved fishing, camping and going to auctions and church festivals. Enough cannot be said about this truly amazing person. A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 9am-11am with a funeral service to follow at 11am. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association in Charlene's loving memory.
