Collins, Charlene, age 83, passed away August 16, 2017 at the Wellington of Dayton.
Charlene was born April 27, 1934 in Letcher County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth (Donnels) Warner.
Charlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who also worked a number of years for the Ohio Bell company. Charlene was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception parish in Dayton, Ohio.
Charlene was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 61 years, John V. Collins. Charlene is survived by her brothers, William Warner, Gary (Renda) Warner, and Jack (Nicki) Warner; her brother-in-law, Joseph P. (Nicky) Collins; sons, Joseph M. (Nancy) Collins and John D. (Jennifer) Collins; daughters, Lisa M. (Chris) Carty and Patricia A. (Roger) Overdorf; and her grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Alyssa, Juliana, Quinn, Hunter, Kristen, John M. and Maddison.
Charlene's hobbies included gardening and baking. Charlene's humbleness and kindness made her a very special person and a pleasure to be around.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Wellington of Dayton and Hospice of the Miami Valley for their kindness and dutiful care. A special Thank You goes to Kathy Patrick of the Wellington, a thoughtful and sincere person who shows a great deal of compassion for the residents at the Memory Care facility.
A celebration of Charlene's life will be held at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, 2300 S. Smithville Road in Dayton at 10:30am on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. The family will receive friends at church an hour prior to the service. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
If desired, donations may be made in Charlene's memory to Hospice of the Miami Valley.
