Charlene Cavey

Charlene "Jo" Cavey, age 73, of Dayton, passed away on April 27, 2023, at Hospice of Dayton with her loving family and friends by her side. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on January 16, 1950, the daughter of the late Claude "Charlie" and Josephine Mendenhall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Jeff Cavey; her beloved son, Jeffrey Cavey; her nephew, Jamey Hill; and her great nephew, Jamey Hill, Jr.

Jo is survived by her loving daughter, Catrina "Trina" (Chris) Rushing; grandchildren, Gabriel and Briana; sisters, Cathy Brewer and Sue (Terry) Weese; niece, Casondra (Steve) Hand; great nephews, Jamie Young and Tanner King; wonderful lifetime friends, Marilyn & Charles Eldridge, and family.

In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, listening to music, coaching and "telling others what to do". Jo was very devoted to her family, caring for her son, Jeffrey, until his death in 2012. She was a very strong woman and very wise. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and could tell the best stories. Jo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, where a Celebration of Jo's Life will begin at 11:00am.
