Charlene Durst Alessandro of Riverside, Ohio passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Feb 19, 2023 after a long illness. She was born in Phillipsburg, Ohio on April 6, 1931 to the late Peter K. and Daisy Durst (Loughman) and graduated from Phillipsburg High School class of 1949. Charlene is preceded in death by her brother, Robert D. Durst, and sister, Joy Litton, of Verona, Ohio. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Durst (Marge) of Enon, Ohio, 3 sons, Lawrence P. (Sherry), Robert D. and Peter L. Alessandro (Diane), all of Dayton, Ohio. She was blessed with 4 grandchildren, granddaughter Jana Deis (Bryan) and grandsons Robert Alessandro, Jonathan Alessandro, and Joseph Alessandro all of Dayton, Ohio, step-granddaughter Nikole Robeson (Kurt) of Zionsville, IN and four great-grandchildren Olivia Deis of Dayton, Ohio, and Chase, Noah and Joel Robeson of Zionsville, IN.
Charlene worked in the Alessandro family business, Dino's Pizza on Wayne Ave. in Dayton, Ohio for more than 25 years until it closed in 1987. Because of her love of children she then joined the Kinder Care staff in Riverside Ohio and worked there until 2005. Charlene's favorite pastime was keeping fit and you could find her and her friends taking classes and working out multiple times a week at the Kettering Recreation Center. Her gentle ways and sense of humor will be greatly missed by her family and neighborhood friends.
Graveside service and interment will be Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Cemetery (1625 Calvary Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45409). Please line up at the front gate of the cemetery 10 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Bethany Village, Centerville, Ohio, or Hospice of Dayton in her remembrance, or spend the day with your Mother.
