Cerilda A. Combs

Cerilda A. Combs, a beacon of joy and warmth to all who knew her, passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on June 2, 1942, Cerilda lived a life rich in love, laughter, and memorable adventures, leaving an indelible mark on her family, friends, and the community.

A wonderful person at heart, Cerilda had a unique ability to bring joy to those around her. Her laughter was infectious, and her spirit was uplifting. She cherished every moment spent with her children, Terry (Jean) Combs and Teresa (Shon) Matthews, with whom she shared countless memories that will be treasured forever. Cerilda’s love extended into the vibrant lives of her seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Those fortunate enough to call her family knew of her adventurous soul. She loved the outdoors, frequently indulging in her passions for fishing and hunting, often accompanied by the people she adored. Cerilda found freedom in the wind on motorcycle trips, a pursuit that reflected her spirited nature and love for adventure. Her evenings at The Eagles' Club were filled with camaraderie, as she was an esteemed member of the ritual team, sharing her talents and companionship with many.

Cerilda's heart was equally full of devotion to her beloved boyfriend, Roger Hartge, who brought her joy and companionship in her later years. She was surrounded by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved her dearly and will carry her memory in their hearts.

Though she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories, the absence of her parents, Daniel and Martha Profitt, and her daughter, Gayle Thompson, will be deeply felt. The loss of her siblings—Elroy, Speedy, Junior, Billy, Georgie, Gene, Jimmy and Ella—also weighs heavily on those who survive her, as each shared a bond that transcended time and space.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visiting hours from 9:00am to 10:00am on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, with the funeral service beginning at 10:00am. Following the service, Cerilda will be laid to rest at Bear Creek Cemetery.

Cerilda A. Combs has now taken her place among the stars, and while her physical presence will be sorely missed, the spirit of her life—full of laughter, love, and adventure—will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. As we remember her, let us celebrate the joy and warmth she brought into our lives, for she truly was a beautiful gift to this world.
