Cathy Dawn Tipton, age 76 of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021 surrounded by her daughter and granddaughter while listening to her favorite song "Big Girls Don't Cry".
She was born on August 3, 1945 in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late Melford and Betty Gitschier. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 36 years, Jerry Tipton.
Cathy is survived by her daughter, Jill Reeder and her significant other, Chris Calhoun; beloved granddaughter, "her babygirl" Devon and her husband Tanner Backus; three great-grandchildren, "the sun to her shine" Braylen Carr, Kai Backus and Leikan Backus; and her special Boston Terrier, Quincy.
She graduated from Wellsville High School and later went on to the former Ohio Valley Business College. Cathy was employed by Potters Medical Center until her husband Jerry gave her the opportunity to stay home with her family. She was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Cathy was a devoted homemaker who loved to travel and go shopping. She is well loved and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
