Carrie Poteet

Carrie Poteet, age 97 of Kettering, reunited with her husband, Harold on July 28, 2024. She was born December 13, 1926 in Pennington Gap, VA, the daughter of the late John and Lula (Parsons) Kirk. In addition to her husband and parents, Carrie was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Poteet; sister, Elma Daugherty and brother, Baylor Kirk. 

She is survived by her son, Roger Poteet and numerous extended family and dear friends. 

Carrie attended Lee County schools in Virginia. She spent much of her life raising a family of her beloved husband and two sons. When she did venture out into the workplace, you could find her at Sunshine Biscuit in Dayton and then later at a department store called, Shopper’s Fair in Kettering. As her health declined and she was unable to attend church services, she always maintained a strong devotion and love for Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. 

Family will receive guests from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459) where a funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor Doug Surber officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens following the service.
