Carrie Atwater

ATWATER, Carrie E., age 76 went to be with the Lord Friday, October 8, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eulice and Leola H. Crutchfield; brother, Dennis Crutchfield; sister, Doris Caldwell; and son, Byron.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce F. Atwater; daughter, Marcia Atwater; grandchildren, Shlonda (Daryl) and Jason Atwater; 6 great-grandchildren, DeMarco, Icesis, Rahkiel, Daryl, Kamren, and Karter; aunts, Mrs. Lillian Cates and Mrs, Louise McClamb; as well as a host of nieces, cousins, and friends.

She joined the New Hope Missionary Baptist at the age of nine. Dr. J.H. Jones, Pastor. She loved her God, family, church, and singing. She was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Gospel Choir Director and Church Clerk. She was a graduate of Harton High School and Durham Business College. She was a nursery school teacher at Marable before retiring.

The Atwater family will receive friends Monday, October 11, 2010 from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. at Central Missionary Baptist Church, Derby Rd.
