Carolyn Sue (Toppe) Robinson, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Hospice of Dayton. Carolyn was born on September 18, 1937 to Noma and Everett Toppe of Sidney, Illinois where she was raised on a farm.
She attended Unity High School and graduated in 1955. She married Donald Walter Robinson in 1958, and they moved to Ohio.
Carolyn's goal in life was to be a mother, a role she perfected with her biological children, Susie, Bill and Karen. She then expanded her role as mother to all of their friends and anyone else who may have needed a Mom at any time, including an exchange student from Sweden, Jan. Carolyn was blessed with seven grandchildren who became her new obsession.
She was an avid gardener. Many in Xenia have paused as they drove by her spectacular garden where she spent most of her time after her kids left home. She also decorated a beautiful home that was just as warm and welcoming as she was.
Her free time was spent attending and serving Xenia United Presbyterian Church where she held many roles from Deacon to a Vacation Bible School teacher, as well as frequently providing flower arrangements from her garden.
Our family would like to extend a deep appreciation to Hospice of Dayton for their wonderful care in her last days.
She is survived by her husband, Don Robinson; daughters, Susie (Dave) Johnston of Centerville, OH and Karen (Steve) Boettcher of Beavercreek, OH; son, Bill (Laura) Robinson of Arlington Heights, IL; grandchildren, Anna (Mike) Gonzalez, Meg Johnston, Morgan Detty, Blake (Rachel) Robinson, Shannon Johnston, Connor (Olivia) Detty and Ellie Robinson; great-grandchild, Liam Gonzalez; sisters, Irma Samson of Sidney, IL and Marjorie Tingley of Champaign, IL; as well as many precious friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noma and Everett Toppe, and sister Janice Schultes.
Per Carolyn's wishes, she would love for you to plant a flower, remember to pay off your credit cards, and NEVER get in a pasture with a bull - advice she regularly gave to her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to Xenia United Presbyterian Church.
