Carolyn L. Lewis, age 83, of Riverside, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, July 31, 2023. She was born in Portsmouth, OH, the daughter of Carl Lerue Braden & Edna Blanche (Rickey) Braden. Carolyn was a graduate of Portsmouth West High School class of 1957. She was a genealogist by trade and owner of CBL Researchers for over 35 years. She compiled the book "Map of Scioto County, Ohio" by Barton & Gibbs to aid other researchers with information about Scioto County, OH.
Carolyn served her community through volunteer work all her life. In Carolyn's youth, she was active as a 4-H leader in Scioto County, OH; Brownie troop leader in Dayton, OH; volunteer tutor for special needs children in the Beavercreek, OH school system and most recently served as President of the Riverside Historical Society and Museum of Montgomery County. Carolyn was a long time member of the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic. She was also an active volunteer and leader with the Riverside Seniors and other local community organizations. She remained an active member in her church, Community Methodist Church Riverside, serving as a volunteer with Whiz Kids, after-school Christian program for elementary children.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; first husband and the father of her children, Leroy "Jake" Lewis; and her second husband Kirby L. Bauman. She is survived by her children: Scott Lewis of West Portsmouth, Cindy (Keithen) McKenzie of Wittensville, KY, Keith (Carla) Lewis of West Milton, OH; Bonus Daughter: Janet Israel of Beavercreek, OH; Step-children: Kurt Bauman of Greenville, OH, Kristopher Bauman of Union, OH, Dirk Bauman of San Diego, CA, Richard (Jodie) Bauman of Moraine, Erik (Robin) Bauman of Centerville, IN, Dale Bauman of Union, OH, Viktoria (Matt) Cooper of Tipp City, OH; Grandchildren: Brittany (Steven) Ford, Alex Lewis, Hana Lewis, Sarah (Michael) Salyers and Great-grandchildren: Bentley Reed, Dalton Ford, Charlie Ford, Laiken Salyers, Taylor Salyers, Mason Salyers; and numerous, much loved, nieces and nephews.
Public visitation will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023 at Community Methodist Church Riverside (339 Meyer Ave, Dayton, OH 45431) at 9:15am with funeral service to follow at 10:30 am. She will be laid to rest in her hometown at Scioto Burial Park.
