Caroline Snell

Caroline L. Snell, Born Big Rapids, Michigan on August 14, 1931. Caroline leaves her spouse, Richard; children Judyth Williams (Tom) of Charlotte, N.C., Scott Snell of Houston, TX, and Joyce Miller of Centerville, Ohio; Also beloved grand-children Joseph Richard Miller, Caroline Williams, Matthew Miller, Andrew Miller and Margaret Williams; also brother-in-law Fred Gatzke (Deborah) of Ft. Worth, TX.

Caroline graduated from The Ohio State University in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught school for many years first in Columbus, Ohio and later in Dayton and also taught Aviation at Sinclair College in Dayton.

She was a volunteer at Dayton Carillon Park for seven years in the Aviation Department. Caroline also was a real estate agent for sixteen years with Coldwell Banker Heritage both selling real estate and teaching new agents.

Caroline was perhaps best known for her skills as an aviator. She held single and multiengine pilot licenses, as well as Flight Instructor ratings for airplane and instruments. She had over six thousand flight hours, most of it instructing primary and advanced students. At then MGY airport, now known as Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport, she was known as the flight instructor of last resort in that she was often able, because of her class room teaching experience and unflappable patience, to get flight students in the air who had been abandoned by other instructors. She made many single engine airplane trips with her non-pilot friends to such places as Las Vegas, Montreal, Nova Scotia, New Orleans, Prince Edward Island and of course Florida.

There will be no services at her request. She would be pleased for donations to the Hospice of Dayton. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel.
