Carole Jean DeMolet-Kniffin, age 85, of Huber Heights, passed away February 23, 2022. She was born February 19, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Herbert and Catherine Gilmore. In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Gilmore; daughters: Donna Sams and Debra Myers-Cleaver and their father, Don J. DeMolet; grandsons: Sean Shockey and Jasen Myers; niece, Dawn Michelle Gilmore; in-laws: Walter G. Kniffin, Jr. and Margaret Ruth Kniffin; sister-in-law, Margaret K. Smith; and brother-in-law, Ronald L. Kniffin.
Carole is survived by her husband, Walter G. Kniffin, III; daughter, Diana J. DeMolet-Carpenter (Ken); sister, Patricia Williams (Gary); step-children: Karen Trenkamp (Tom), Walter G. Kniffin, IV (Audrey), John Patrick Kniffin; brothers-in-law: John Kniffin, Tim Kniffin and Robert Kniffin (Elaine); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Carole graduated from Cincinnati School System, where she met and married Donald James DeMolet. To this union, three daughters were born: Donna Jean, Debra Joan and Diana Jaye. She later lived and worked in Hamilton, Ohio, Hialeah, Florida and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She finally settled making Dayton, Ohio her home, where she met and married Walter G. Kniffin, III in 1982. She worked for Delphi in Vandalia retiring to raise two grandchildren Briana and Joey, and later two great-grandchildren Kami Jo and Jase. This was the joy of her life. She was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Reds fan, but her true love was U.K. Basketball, often saying "she bled blue." She attended many games with her friends. Carole was a life member of the Women's Auxiliary VFW Post 3283 in Huber Heights and was a President of the Honor Degree. She was also an auxiliary member of the AmVets in Vandalia Post 99.
Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:00 pm on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm.
