Carl Woody, age 93 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Crossroads Rehab and Nursing. He was born June 11, 1924 in Jenkins, Kentucky to the late Pearl and Katie Woody.
Carl was a Navy veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific Theatre as a Gunner's Mate. He retired from General Motors as a Senior Engineer. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #73, where he held many offices. He was an avid fisherman and will be remembered for his sense of humor. Carl was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Woody and grandson, Rhett M. Woody.
Carl will be missed by his two sons, Carl (Debra) Woody, Jr. and Ronald (Char) Woody; grandchildren, Christine (Andy) Finley, Aron (Janet) Wilms, Danielle Bush, David (Julie) Stitzel and Timothy (Jessica) Woody; great-grandchildren, Courtney (Jayson) Lake, Taylor Hulett, Sean Wilms, Shannon Wilms, Kaitlyn Wilms, Raelyn Woody, Mya Bush, Jordyn Bush, Grayson Bush, Landen Stitzel, Karissa Stitzel, Michael Woody and Carson Woody; great great-granddaughter, Ari Lake; two great great-grandsons, J.J. Lake and Ashton Hulett and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Family will receive friends Friday, November 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where the funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017. Burial to follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Carl's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
