CMS Carl Junior Golden, age 91, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011 in Anaheim CA.
Called Junior by most family members, Carl or Carl Jr. by others. He was born in West Carrollton, Ohio July 20, 1920 and later moved to Germantown, Ohio where he graduated from high school in 1938.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1942-1945 and 1948-1966. He served during WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era retiring as a Chief Master Sgt. And receiving the Air Force commendation letter on 04/30/66. He received many letters of appreciation throughout his career.
Following his career in the Air Force he worked as an independent contractor for various aircraft companies as a technical writer for engineers traveling throughout the country. He loved a good card game, sports of all kinds; especially baseball; and was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Los Angeles Angels. He loved traveling to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada for slot tournaments and time at the sports book. He would often meet there with brother, Ken, sister-in-law, Rosetta, and special nephew Kas (Sheri) Oganowski. He enjoyed watching old westerns as well as the Andy Griffith show. Every Sunday at 9:59pm he spent cherished moments conversing with brother and sister-in-law Ken and Rosetta, reminiscing and sharing stories. He always looked forward to his weekly lunch with special nephew Bob (Jill) Loscko. He deeply loved his family and friends and was loved in return by all those who knew him. He was admired and respected for his fun loving spirit, gracious giving and all around great personality.
Junior was the first born of 8 children and was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Joseph and Bertha Louise (Schoonover) Golden. Also preceded in death by sisters, Betty Lou Golden, Rita May Golden, Grace Joanne Lawson, Virginia D. Baker, by brothers, Robert L. Golden (killed in Korea), James A. Golden, son Larry Joseph Golden and granddaughter, Shelley Golden and special friend Ned Fox.
He is survived by loving wife of 21 years, Roselle, loving children, Sheri (Ted) Hoover, Randy (Anita) Golden, step-daughters, Julie Widowski and Sharon McKinney, brother, Ken (Rosetta) Golden, brother-in-law, Chuck Lawson, grandchildren, Ken Weisbrod, Cindy (Peter) Jackson, Derek Golden, Andrea Golden, Brian (Chelsea) Golden, great-grandchildren, Samantha Weisbrod, Brooke and Blake Jackson, Ashlyn, Ryan, Ava and Pearson Golden. He is also survived by his ex wife of 49 years, Mary Golden, numerous cousins, nieces, and friends throughout the country including special friend, John Schmitz Jr. His life and memories will be cherished by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 2, 2011 from 5-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery.
