HANSFORD, Carl E., age 79, of Riverside, passed away, January 4, 2006 at Trinity Community of Beavercreek after a 4 month battle with cancer. He was born September 6, 1926 in Shopville, KY, the son of John and Roxie (Buchanan) Hansford. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years as a carpet installer and after retiring he worked part time at the Dayton Auto Auction. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Glenda B. Hansford; four daughters, Louanne Smith of GA, Nina and Tom Faig of West Chester, OH, Sara and Steve Finney of Westerville, OH, Amy and Rob Cairo of Kettering, OH; 4 grandchildren, Brad and Matt Faig, Bethany and Phoenix Cairo; two step-granddaughters, Stephanie and Samantha Finney; special nephew, Bob Hansford, plus other nieces and nephews; one sister, Vela Sewell of Dayton; one brother, Robert Hansford of Dayton. He was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Charlie and Clyde Hansford; four sisters, Eula Renner, Zelma Wright, Marie Vaught, and Willene Simpson. Carl was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Temple. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (4104 Needmore) with Pastor Jerry Siler officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to time of service. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
