Carl Byrd

BYRD, Carl M., 78, of Dayton passed away Friday October 16, 2009 at Crestview Manor. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Minnie Byrd; brothers Eugene, Bill, and Jerry Byrd; and sisters Sarah Vanover, Ruby Reynolds, and Fanny Byrd. Carl is survived by his wife Myrna Byrd; children Michael Byrd, James Byrd, and Patty (Greg) Mercer; step children Burton(Kim) Dixon, Janet (Melesio) Foster, Yvonne Dixon, Aleece (Tim) Dixon, and Charlyne (Steve) Virelli; sisters Shirley (Junior) Newman and Peggy Rabadeau; dog Toto; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends, including Stan Rupert. He loved singing, playing his guitar, collecting knives and belt buckles. Carl loved handcrafting miniature towns. He spent time looking for various treasures with his medal detector. Funeral Services will be held 6:00PM Wednesday October 21, 2009 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00PM prior to services at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 1:00PM Thursday October 22, 2009 at Woodland Cemetery Dayton, Ohio.
