Carl A. "Brub" Ballachino, age 68 of Dayton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on September 9, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Carl and Irene Ballachino.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Patti Ballachino; son, Joseph (Yvonne) Ballachino; two daughters, Angela (James) Thompson and Amie (Michael) Schommer; eight grandchildren, Clayton, Rachel, Ashley Jo, Gage, Scarlett, Abigail, Hannah, and Harper; two sisters, Pat Routt and Barbie DeZarn, and brother in-law and sister in-law Jay and Ronna Sams. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his nephew; Billy Routt, his aunts and uncles, and Carl is also preceded in death by many loved ones that he was very close to.
Carl was a devoted Catholic and a proud veteran of the Vietnam era, who served in the Air Force. He was an avid lover of music, golf, martial arts and boxing. Carl also enjoyed politics, playing drums, being outdoors and spending time with is grandchildren. He was at his happiest when he had his kids around him, his wife and friends celebrating with him, and his dog Bullet on his lap.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jimmy Stephens and all of his cousins and friends who were there right up to the end.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 5-8pm at the Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering, OH 45439. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 10 am at Holy Angels, 1322 Brown St, Dayton, OH 45409. Carl will be laid to rest at a later date at the Dayton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels and Saint Anthony Regional Parrish in Dayton, Ohio or SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center in Carl's memory.
