Carl Abbott

Abbott, Carl W., age 77 of Vandalia, Ohio passed away on May 20, 2007 at his home. Carl was born June 5, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN to William H. & Dovie G. (Stevens) Abbott. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Donald Abbott & Charles Abbott, the mother of his 6 children, Barbara (Abbott) Combs, and son-in-law, Harold Powell. He is survived by his 6 children; daughters, Linda Pitts of Altoona, FL, Brenda Sering and husband Steven of Deltona, FL, Karen Powell of Lewisburg, OH, and "always" son-in-law, David Powell of New Lebanon, Carla Howard of Vandalia, OH, & Kim Berry of New Lebanon, OH; son, Bill Abbott and wife Paula of New Lebanon, OH; 15 grandchildren, Michelle Chamberlain & husband, Todd, Angela Benson & husband, Sheldon, Jimmy Sering & wife, Morgan, Jeremy Powell, Kimberly Powell, Amanda Abbott, Linda Abbott, Billy Abbott, Nicole Abbott, Sheena Abbott, Ruben Abbott, Amanda Mershon & Melisa Howard, Brian Powell, & Josh Berry; 3 great grandchildren, Mya Chamberlain, Tahnya Lurry, & Tyler Hawley, and two bundles of joy on the way; 3 brothers, Kenny & wife, Lois, James & wife, Sylvia, & Larry & wife, Posie; 2 sisters, Betty Reynolds & husband, Joe, & Della Gutwein & husband, John; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, & friends. Carl retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was loved and will be missed by many. The family wishes to give a special thank you to Vitas Hospice for all of their support and caring. Donations can be made to Vitas Hospice, 3055 Kettering Blvd. #218, Moraine, OH 45439. The family will receive friends and family from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville, Ohio.
