C Ted Hacker was born on December 12, 1946 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Charles Theodore Hacker and Catherine Irene Smith. He spent his early years perfecting his natural gift in athletics, music, and academics in Veedersburg and Attica Indiana. On June 19, 1965 he married his high school sweetheart, F Jane McKinney (of Attica, Indiana). They relocated to Dayton, Ohio where Ted began working for Emery Air Freight.
Quickly moving up the corporate ladder, he was offered a management position just one year later. Ever the motivated person, he turned down the promotion for the opportunity to join a new company, Cape Air Freight. That venture taught him important facets of business and a few years later, he co-founded Dayton Air Freight, growing into one of the largest Air Freight companies serving the Midwest and New York markets. During the years of Dayton Air Freight, Ted and Jane were blessed with two daughters, Kimberly and Wendy as well as a son, Cort. Also during this time, Ted continued to excel in athletics, particularly in tennis; he also coached a church basketball team for a few years.
In the late 1980's the Air Freight business had changed, and Ted ventured into his true passion...tennis. He became a certified tennis professional and taught many of the rising stars in the Dayton area. He became co-owner of Dayton Indoor Tennis Club and later Dayton Center Courts & Tennis Academy where he enjoyed serving the customers (and the tennis ball). His years of contributions to the tennis community lead to his 1995 induction into the Dayton Tennis Hall of Fame.
Ted is preceded in death by his brothers Chuck and Jerry and is survived by his sisters Mary Andersen and Mary Jane Rupel; his wife Jane; three children Kimberly (Jeff) Peyton, Wendy (Todd) Stevens, and Cort (Evonne) Hacker; as well as his seven grandchildren, Madison and Kaitlin Peyton; Jessica Stevens; and Samantha, Ethan, Garrett, and Chloe Hacker.
