C. Benny Blackburn, loving husband, father, and poppy passed away peacefully at Heartland of Centerville on Friday, August 16, 2019.

He was born August 24, 1952, in Lee County, Virginia.

Early in life, Benny served in the United States Army as a medic stationed in Italy. Benny worked for many years as a finance manager in the car business. He had a natural talent for helping people and putting his customers at ease. He always had an encouraging word and brightened many peoples day with that big smile and great sense of humor. He and Mary chose to father the fatherless through foster care for many years. He loved life and although being sidelined by an accident that left him disabled, he never complained about his situation. He was an inspiration and will be missed by many that knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Blackburn and three brothers, Steve, Jerry, and Greg Blackburn.

He is survived by his loving wife - Mary; children - Dana (Mike) Ball, Russell (Becky) Morningstar, Heather (Ted) Schreck, Benjamin (Jennifer) Blackburn, Eddie Blackburn; grandchildren - Kelsey, Alexander, McKenzie, Alyssa, Ethan, Jacob, Jordan, Brayden, Nate, Aubrie, Shane, Addie; brother - Jeff (Stephanie) Blackburn; aunts - Patsy (Bill) Poteet Greer; Doris Ann (Dotty) Poteet Livesay; uncles - Arthur M. (Dood) Poteet, Denver Poteet. He will also be missed by many more extended family members and friends.

Services will be Sunday, August 18, at Heritage Christian Church - 7171 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45459. There will be a memory viewing at 2 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3 PM.
