Burt Norman Ferrell, age 78 of Kettering, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at his home. He was born August 7, 1941 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Burt Dallas and Dessie (Moore) Ferrell.
In addition to his parents, Burt was preceded in death by his children, Nancy Parker, Regina Nemchick and Richard Cheshire; siblings, Lenora Davis and James Bradley Ferrell and grandson, Phillip Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Combs) Ferrell; a daughter, Debbie Clark; grandchildren, Selenia Cheshire, Shannon Bogan, Loyd Alexander, Chasity Harvey, Chrissy Cheshire, Diana Borman and Pamela Castle; great-grandchildren, Paula, David, Garyd, Sara, Will, Kensley, Luke, Skylar, Aliyah, Billy, Alana, Bryson, Cayden and Sissy; several great great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Lou Turrentine and Melva Dean "Dee" Mann and extended family members and friends.
Burt attended school in Nashville and drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam where he honorably served for a little over a year. Soon after he relocated to the greater Dayton area where he met and married his wife of 47 years and her five children as his own. Burt pursued a career as an over-the-road truck driver for the majority of his life and retired after almost 50 years and millions of miles, working for Hawkings and Ryder for the duration of his career.
Family will receive guests from 11:00am until 12:00 pm Monday, November 25, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home, KETTERING. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm Monday also at the funeral home and conclude with procession to Dayton National Cemetery for burial with military honors.
