Buford James Russell, age 82, born 2/10/1932 to Governor and Nettie Russell. Passed away 1/22/2015.
Retired from Inland Division of General Motors in 1988 after 37 years. Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954.
Preceded in death by his wife, Bethel Triplett Russell. They were married for 43 years before her passing in 1997. They enjoyed traveling, particularly through the western part of the United States. Buford was never happier than when he was planning his next trip "out west." He is also preceded by two brothers and 4 sisters, and one beloved granddaughter, Emily Greene.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Price Russell, whom enjoyed many hours riding horses; also sister Beatus Burchett, brothers Eugene and Hughie Russell, three daughters Joyce Smith and husband Larry, Linda Williams and husband Terry, Darlene Greene and husband John, stepdaughter Lori Waite and husband Edson. Buford had six grandchildren, Sara and Matt Smith, Andrea McGlinn, Erin Steadman, and Casey Slater, and four great grandchildren, Lane, Max, and Avie McGlinn, and Hadley Steadman.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432.
Burial will follow at Beaver Cemetery.
