Bruce Charles Hellickson

Bruce C. Hellickson, age 62, of Pataskala, Ohio passed surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday August 29, 2023. Bruce was born Feb 5, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio and was the second child of Charles and D. Louise Hellickson.

Bruce was born to two loving and selfless parents who raised their children through good old country values. As a young boy and teenager, Bruce loved visiting his grandma Hannah's farm in Humboldt, Iowa, where you could find him chasing his sister with a snake or riding horses with his brother and cousins. Bruce began writing the start of many of life's chapters in 1985, to include marrying his love Kathy (whom he met at Briscos Bar in the summer of 1982), graduating RETS Technical Institute after following his passion for engineering, and beginning employment with the Defense Electronics Supply Center (DESC) in Dayton. Four short years later, his son Christopher was born followed by daughter Brittney in 1993. Bruce and family relocated to Columbus with DESC, where he continued to work until his retirement in 2007. Having a deep passion for cars, Bruce could be found at many car shows, ultimately winning numerous trophies with his 2004 Ford Cobra Mustang.

Bruce's loyalty and love to his family was fierce, never allowing countless hospitalizations and procedures to define who he was or what he stood for. He was a man who always wanted to help, who was proud of his family, his ability to continue to contribute against the worst odds, who kept those around him on their toes with an expert level of Hellickson stubbornness and a sincere belief that nothing was worth starting if you weren't going to do it right the first time. Bruce enjoyed the simple things in life, chose sweat pants over jeans, smiled at a well-kept lawn, eating a delicious meal cooked by his wife or taking his kids out to supper while mom worked, and being surrounded by those he loved the most. We know Bruce is driving his fire red Cobra Mustang with his dad Chuck in the passenger seat and brother Dave in the back, listening to K99.1FM.

Bruce is survived by his wife: Kathy Hellickson (Copher) and two children, Brittney Hellickson and Christopher (Elissa) Hellickson; mother: D. Louise Hellickson (Boyd); sister: Norma McNutt-Dupre and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Charles Hellickson; his brother: David Hellickson and niece: Krista McNutt.
