Brian Lee Wilkes, born on April 23, 1975, in Benkelman, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 49 years old.
Brian lived a life marked by positivity and kindness. Graduating from Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, Florida, he carried a good-hearted nature that endeared him to many. He was a dedicated worker at Better Living Home Health, where he served as a peace worker and material handler. Known for his positive attitude and infectious smile, Brian touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In his leisure time, Brian found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing, listening to a wide array of music, and was extremely knowledgeable about cars. His passion for NASCAR was evident, as was his unwavering support for his favorite sports teams, including Ohio State University, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was an ardent animal lover and cherished his family deeply. Attending church was also an integral part of his life.
Brian proudly shared many achievements, often bragging about his impressive lifting abilities and earning several awards with ECI. His love for life and enthusiasm for his interests were reflected in every facet of his being.
Brian is survived by his mother, Darlene (nee: McGeorge) Wilkes; his aunts and uncles, Marilyn (Bill) Brown, Janet McGeorge, Glenn (Lynn) Smith, and Paul McGeorge; his cousins, Sheila Smith, Paul Levi McGeorge, Patrick McGeorge, W. Dustin (Vina) Brown, Daniel (Crystal Dancer) McGeorge, and Steven (Hanna Steioff) McGeorge; and his friend, Emily Leary.
He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Wilkes; his uncle, Tim McGeorge; his cousin, Glenn Smith Jr.; and his grandparents, Mildred and Levi McGeorge.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM, all at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio, 45424.
Brian Lee Wilkes will be remembered for his warmth, generosity of spirit, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
