Brian Daum

August 30, 1966 — July 30, 2016

On July 30, 2016, Brian Scot Daum left this earth and entered through the gates of Heaven on his pristine Harley Davidson. He passed peacefully at Hospice of Dayton and is no longer suffering. Brian was born on August 30, 1966 in Kettering, OH to Kay Ellen Daum (Wilson), who predeceased him just seven months ago. He is survived by his daughter, Alisa Marie Daum, as well as his older brother, Kirk Steven Daum, younger brother, Craig Allen Daum, and sister-in-law, Amy Dowds. He was the ornery uncle to his nieces and nephews, Teri, April, Andrew, Andrea, Tyler, and several grandnephews and grandnieces. He also leaves behind his first and second wives, Lisa Pennington-Daum and Kelli Adkins, who loved him deeply and graciously helped raise his daughter. Brian also had many friends and co-workers, whom he shared many beers with and held very close to his heart.

Brian graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School in 1984, and went on to work for Dick Osman Nissan, which was later purchased by Castrucci. He went on to work at SAAB in the early 2000s and ended his career as an auto technician at Dave Dennis. He fixed more cars, motorcycles and other odds and ends than we'll ever know.

Brian loved to ride on the open road with the wind in his hair, and proudly owned an array of cars and motorcycles, ranging from a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix to a 1975 Sportster, 1997 Fatboy and 2011 Ultra Classic Electra Glide (a.k.a. The Geezer Glider). His favorite getaway was Sturgis, and the journey was equally satisfying as the destination. A professional pizza connoisseur, Brian loved his beer and smoke. Bike Nights were a weekly highlight for him. When not on the open road, he loved being out on the water, fishing, boating and sharing jello shots via remote control boat. His radio was always playing Led Zeppelin and other classic rocks favorites, and he loved his woman, Stevie Nicks.

He was a rough and tough guy, but was equally soft and gentle. Brian loved life and he loved adventure, and he left an impression on everyone he encountered. He could laugh and smile his way out of any situation, even those involving the police. Brian will be missed by many, but now he is riding free.

A visitation will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, South Chapel on Saturday, August 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. Immediately following the visitation, a celebration of his life will be held at Kirk and Amy's Double D Homestead. Please contact the family for more details.
