Brenda Kay Combs

Brenda Kay Combs, a beloved wife, mother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, after a life filled with love and joy. Born on August 29, 1946, in Hazard, Kentucky, Brenda was known for her caring and loving personality that touched the lives of those around her.

Brenda was passionate about many things, most notably cooking. She found immense joy in preparing meals and loved teaching others the art of cooking. Her kitchen was often filled with laughter and the delightful aromas of her favorite recipes. She cherished desserts that included chocolate and the renowned Joe's Pizzeria. She also had a profound appreciation for nature, spending countless hours in her garden, nurturing her flowers, and taking walks around her neighborhood. Brenda delighted in observing the changing leaves of fall, all the while enjoying the comforting presence of her beloved family.

Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, Dorise Combs, and their children, Cleon (Alma) Combs, Sonjia (Kevin) Knox, and Steven (Sheri) Combs. She was a proud grandmother to Tyler, Ashley, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Heather, Kaelie, Jenna, and Tarah, and a loving great-grandmother to Brantley, Hailie, Emerie, Nova, Roman, Beckham, Bryant, Ariane, Jayden, David, AJ, and Kade. Her siblings, Roy (Pandora), David (Lisa), Alice, and Diane (Jay), remain to cherish her memory and share fond stories of their time together.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Nannie and Chester Smith, as well as her siblings, Roger, Ernestine (Ricky), Gene, and Sherry. Their spirits along with Brenda’s will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire.
