Bonnie Lou Mantooth, age 70 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born June 8, 1953 in St. Mary's, Ohio to Samuel and Betty (Elsea) Cotterman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Russell "Rusty" Cotterman, her son, Christopher Cotterman, and her daughter, Jennifer Cotterman.
Bonnie is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Herschel E Mantooth Sr; three children, Shaun Cable, Angie (Tom) Younce, Eddie (Angie) Mantooth, three brothers; David Cotterman, Raymond J "Chub" (Angela) Elsass, Denver (Pamela) Elsass, four sisters; Donna Penny (James Stratton), Dixie (Carl) Ellis, Shirley Slaughter, and Rhonda Sue Elsass; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous other family and friends.
Bonnie attended Evangel Church of God in Dayton and she was a long time employee of Walmart. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and being outdoors. Some of her hobbies included camping, boating, fishing, going out to eat, playing cards, shopping, crafting, going to the movies, attending Browns football games, going to her kids' and grandkids' sporting events, and having a hot cup of coffee every morning. Growing up, Bonnie enjoyed roller skating, annual family 4th of July trips to Fort Loramie Lake, and hanging out with her friends.
Bonnie is remembered as being courageous, loving, caring, devoted, thoughtful, giving, creative, and fun-loving. Most important to Bonnie was family. She is loved greatly and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439). A Celebration of Life will follow at 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the same location.
