Bobby E. Grigsby, Sr. "Gene", age 89 of Dayton, passed away July 31, 2023. He was born May 23, 1934 in Hazard, KY to the late Mack and Lola (Williams) Grigsby. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Gordon, Kenneth, Dexter and Glennis; his sisters, Martha and Gladys; his grandson, Bo Grigsby and his former wife, Mary Grigsby.
He is survived by his children, Sammy (Sheila) Grigsby, Tammy (Don) Swart, Bobby (Gina) Grigsby Jr., Lola (Tom) Schenkel, Teresa (Marvin) Disney, Vickie (Randy) Coots and Sonny Grigsby; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; siblings, Edward (Faye) and JC (Karen) Grigsby; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Gene was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at Frank Z Chevrolet for 27 years. He was a long-time member of the Dabel Eagles 3031 and AmVets Post 24. Gene enjoyed spending time with his loving family and friends, playing cards and trying his luck at the lottery. Gene liked listening to Bluegrass, watching old western shows/movies and going back down home in the mountains of Kentucky.
Family will receive guests from 3-5 pm on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, OH 45439) where a funeral service will begin at 5 pm with Bishop Leon Collins officiating.
