Bishop W. Honaker Sr.

Bishop Herman W. Honaker Sr., age 99 1/2 of Xenia, OH to be at rest with the Father and Son on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born on November 30, 1921 in Xenia, Ohio to Melvin Watson and Lucy Honaker. Bishop Honaker was united in marriage to Susie I. Harris on February 28, 1998 in Xenia, OH.

Bishop H.W. Honaker gave his life to Christ in the year of 1959. Bishop was associated with several churches, was an ordained Deacon for 18 years in the Church of Faith under Reverend Esther Honaker (deceased). Received and ordained to preach the word in the year of 1992. In the year of 1997 was ordained Bishop at the church of Faith. Bishop Honaker loved working around young people, he worked 42 years between Central State University and Wilberforce University. Bishop Honaker went about quietly helping those who asked of him.

Bishop Honaker leaves to mourn his caring and loving wife, Susie Honaker; and son, Paul (Brenda) Honaker of Columbus, OH; his daughter in law, Dr. Peggy Honaker, Fairlawn, OH; a host of cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren and adopted children. Bishop Honaker was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sharon Letcher; two sons, Herman W. Honaker Jr. and Gerald Honaker; and a granddaughter.

Special friends Bishop H. Knox, Bishop Bertha Kelly (daughter in law), Elder Charles Byrd, all of Dayton, OH. A caregiver and friend, Minister John Willis of Reynoldsburg, OH.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at First United Christian Church (DOC), 626 North Columbus Avenue, Xenia, OH 45385. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 10:00 am at the church with Pastor Buford officiating. Bishop Honaker will be laid to rest following services at Cherry Grove Cemetery, Xenia, OH.
