Birdie Ann Golf, age 88, of Dayton, passed away on September 28, 2024. She was born on December 15, 1935 to the late Charles Young & Arrie Mae Bryant.
Birdie attended Roosevelt High School. She retired from General Motors after over 30 years of service. Birdie was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she also sang in the choir. She was also a member and past president of The Chapeliers.
In her spare time, she enjoyed ceramics and making pottery. She was the embodiment of a generous and giving spirit, which she showed through acts of kindness and helping others in her community. Her love and generosity will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, Birdie was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Young Jr.
She will be remembered by her children: James Dukes IV (Ruby), Philip Dukes, Ron Dukes (Gabrielle) and Letitia Evans (Roderick); grandchildren: James Dukes V, Danielle Dukes, Tiffany Dukes, Ron Dukes II, and Seth Evans; great-granddaughter, Stevie Daughtery; siblings: Tonya Young, Sharon Schooler (Charles), Beverly Young, William Young and Gary Young (Rahima); her cousins, Anna Louise Williams and Elizabeth "Pookum" Nichols; family friend Sandra Gilliam-Beale; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Family and friends will be received from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton. A memorial service will begin at 3:00pm.
