Betty E. Whitsel, 86, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Doyt Stratton and Hazel (Stratton) Clark; sister Joy (George) Campbell; and son Richard Franks. She is survived by her husband Virgil; brother, Nelson (Carol) Clark; daughters, Rebecca (Daniel) Mitchell; Barbara (David) Wellmeier; sons James (Teresa) Hart and Jack Hart; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her step children, Earnest (Sandy) Tate; Warren (Anne) Tate; Lela Tate; Virgil (Melody) Whitsel Jr; Sherman Whitsel; and Henrietta Kay Whitsel.
Betty was a former President of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Post 3958, and was a long serving member of the Eagles Ritual Team, Post 2641. She will be remembered for her strong will, generosity, and tremendous love for her family and friends.
Visitation will be from 3-5 pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice. To send a special message to the family, please click on Share Memories.
