Betty Louise Smith, 72, of Trotwood, OH formerly of Covington, KY, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Betty was born in Covington, Kentucky on June 1, 1945 to Marvin and Edith (Rose) Hamm. She married Kenneth P. Smith on June 6, 1964 in Florence, KY.
Betty loved to sing, play dominos, paint and collect angel figurines. She was a member of West Acres Church of the Nazarene in Trotwood, where she served as their pianist, their missionary president and was active in the churches calling ministry with shut-ins. She was a direct decedent of Mordecai Hamm, who was her great grandfather. She loved her family and friends dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Betty is survived by her husband; two brothers, Howard "Bud" (Jackie) Hamm and Roy Hamm; a sister Joann Hamm; nieces and nephews and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brother Clarence and Cecil Hamm.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, OH 45424, where services will begin at 10:00 am, with Pastor Bill Coldiron officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery.
