Betty J. Passmore, age 96 of West Carrollton, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Betty was born August 24, 1924 in Dadeville, MO the daughter of Ester and Frank Vaughn. Betty would tell stories of growing up on the farm in Missouri, picking fresh fruits and vegetables and always having good meals cooked on a wood burning stove by her mother. Betty married Lemoyne (Bill) Passmore in 1941 and together they had four children, Ann, Patricia, Michael, and Linda.
Betty and Bill moved many times for Bill's job and Betty always handled the new homes, schools and communities smoothly. When they moved to a small town in Kentucky from Texas, Betty started the town's first Welcome Wagon Club and the first Garden Club of which she was President. Betty was a great cook and an outstanding baker. Her homemade cherry pie was a favorite of all who had the good fortune to taste it. Betty was strong in her Christian faith and loved her church and church family.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters Ruby and Alleen and brothers Ralph and Lee Vaughn and daughter Ann (Claude) Landers. Betty is survived by her children Patricia (Harry) Long, Michael (Laurie) Passmore, and Linda (Patrick) Dortch; grandchildren Leslie (Stoney) Rhodes, Jonathan (Sarina) Landers, Amber (Russell) Sparkman, Lance (Amanda) Long, Adam (Nickie) Long, Ashley (Jon Christy) Long, Kacey Passmore, Ryan (Stephanie) Passmore, Houston Ratliff, William Ratliff and many great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Memorial United Methodist Church in West Carrollton, in Betty's memory.
Family will receive guests from 10 AM - 11 AM on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459) where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow the service at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville, OH.
