Betty Jo ("Joey") Woodrow, age 85, of Englewood, passed away on January 29, 2014.
Betty Jo was born on March 7, 1928, in Michigan, and graduated from Augusta High School in 1946. Betty Jo was an avid gardener, and was talented in many areas, including the arts of sewing, upholstering, and ceramic painting. She also loved to do crossword puzzles, and was prized for her wonderful home-cooked meals, jams and pickles, and great sense of humor. Betty Jo was a lifetime member of the Shamrock Club, and loved to bowl, having bowled several times a week even when she was 82.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Woodrow, Jr., parents, Sibyl (Jacobs) and Byron Pierce, and sisters, Beverly Plotts and Patricia Barnes, both of Michigan.
Betty Jo is survived by her children, Toni Jo McCoart, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Tamara Woodrow, of Englewood, Ohio, Shauna McSherry, of Kettering, Ohio, and Brian (Debra) Woodrow, of Toledo, Ohio; Grandchildren, Timothy (Courtney) Douglass, Eric (Rebecca) Douglass, Kevin Brown, Julie Brown, Zachary Farquhar, Joel Farquhar, Andrew McSherry, Benjamin McSherry, Emily McSherry, Mindy (Dave) Cervetto, Aaron Woodrow, and Sydney Woodrow; Great-grandchildren, Casey, Josh, and Erica Douglass, Ashley and Blaine Douglass, Logan Roark, Dawson, Baily, and Marisa Cervetto, and Jonathan and Madyson Woodrow; Great-great grandchildren, Tinsley and Aurora Douglass.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Dayton, and a special thanks to Aimee and the other caring staff at Brookdale Place for the wonderful care they gave to "Miss Betty."
Private services will be held at a later date.
