Born in Pennington Gap, Virginia and grew up in Jonesville, Virginia before the family moved to New Lebanon, Ohio. Once married, she lived in Dayton, Ohio and eventually moved to Vandalia where she lived for over 45 years.
Betty was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, & friend who was loved by all who knew her. She worked as the payroll secretary for Vandalia-Butler Schools for 25 years until she finally retired. She loved her family and friends dearly! She was so proud of her 2 children- Bryan & Amy, and also her grandsons- Eric & Isaac.
She loved:
She lived a beautiful life filled with love! Her children, Bryan & Amy, and grandsons Eric & Isaac who absolutely adored her, Fred- the love of her life, brother & sisters- Wayne & Pam, Brenda & Pete, Barb & Howard, and Jerry & Lynn who loved her beyond measure, a church family who cared for her well-being and cherished her, and many friends who dearly treasured her.
She celebrated 80 years of life in November. Betty was even-keeled, happy, kind, helpful, and always late! That’s one thing you could always count on with Betty is she would always show up late! She was also very good at stalling- anytime it was time to leave or get off the phone she would talk longer and keep asking questions. We always joked she would probably be late for her own funeral, but sadly, she beat us all here.
We may never truly understand why God took Betty when He did, but we can find peace with knowing why she was here! She was placed in all our lives for specific and special reasons for each of us. We all have stories, memories, emotions associated with her and we each can use those moments to remember her and smile. She was a kind soul, an excellent cook, a dependable friend, an ear to listen, a smile to cheer you up, and a big hug to say hello or goodbye. We all wish we had one more moment, one more hug, or one last time to say “I love you!” But she knew it! She knew how we all felt about her, and we all know how she felt about us! So there’s no guessing, no regrets, and no wishing for second chances with her. She was right with all of us and God, and God decided it was time to peacefully and quietly bring her Home. I hope we may all rest in the fact that she is at peace. What a beautiful life she lived!
