Betty Jane Buirley, 85, of Centerville, OH passed away peacefully at Optimized Senior Living in Lebanon on April 30th.
Betty briefly attended Miami University Ohio & worked at NCR before meeting the love of her life Bill Buirley. Betty was the epitome of a wife & mother; inconveniencing herself for the sake of others & always taking care of her husband & family by putting others before herself. She spent most of her years as a housewife & mother to her 5 children & never once was a complaint heard from her. She had a bright infectious smile that lit up her face & lifted others' spirits. She had a love of art, poetry & cooking while creating some of her own. Betty enjoyed time with the family watching classic movies & science fiction, golfing, bowling, skiing, horseback riding, playing cards, eating at Cracker Barrel, occasional trips to the casino, helping out with the grandkids, houseboat trips to Lake Cumberland with "the group" (the Hessels, Matts, Scotts, Myers, Kearneys, Muterspaws, & Statens) & everything with "Daddy". In her later years, she worked at Monarch Marking & was a PCT for 15 years at Miami Valley Hospital.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bill Buirley & brother Larry Chambers. She is survived by her 5 children: Kelly Schooler (Alex), Leslie Zengel (Robert), Bill Buirley Jr. (Shannon), Tracy Martin (David), & Doug Buirley; 9 Grandchildren: Ben Schooler (Lois), Jacob Schooler (Alina), Robbie Zengel (Melissa Swain), Tristan Buirley, Niklos Zengel, Aidan Buirley, Samuel Martin, Max Lawrence, & Piper Buirley; and close friends Mike & Sandy Staten.
