Betty A. Boehman, age 75 of Avon Lake, and formerly of Dayton, passed away March 17, 2015. She was born June 20, 1939 in Springfield to the late Joseph and Anna Burneka. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Professor Louis I. Boehman; brothers: Joseph, Stanley, and Charles; and sister, Ruth.
Betty is survived by her children: Andre (Marita) Boehman, Christopher (Kim) Boehman, Amy (Paul) Kress, Kevin Boehman and Rebecca (Michael) Jorgenson; 10 grandchildren: Brenna, Kersten, Brett, Kayla, Brian, Kyle, Hunter, Luke, Colson, and Ella; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Betty lived most of her life in Dayton, and was a Dayton resident until 2007 when she moved to Avon Lake. Betty was an accomplished singer, performing both on TV and the radio in the Dayton/Cincinnati areas as well as church choirs over the years. She was also a talented piano player. Betty attended Julienne high school and graduated from St Joseph Commercial Academy in 1957. Before getting married in 1961, Betty worked in the law offices of R. William Patterson, who would go on to serve as the Mayor of Dayton. She worked as an administrative assistant for various professional offices around Dayton, including Dayton Hydraulic, CPA offices of Kappeler and Associates as well as SCLM Allied Paper. She also obtained her underwriting license and sold life insurance for Massachusetts Mutual for several years. In addition, Betty achieved a life-long goal of obtaining a college degree when she graduated from the University of Dayton with a bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1996. Earlier, Betty had obtained an Associate's degree from Sinclair Community College. Betty will be greatly missed for her infectious laugh, generous spirit, infinite patience and boundless love for her family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, 4600 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Betty's legacy lives on with her Gift of Sight through eye donation.
