Betsy J. Corrigan, born on May 20, 1935, in Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away on November 11, 2024, in Englewood, Ohio. Betsy was a cherished mother, grandmother, and an inspiring figure to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Betsy was raised in Linville, Ohio just outside of Columbus by her parents, Frederick and Lucile Moore who were both deaf. Sign language became her first language.
Betsy pursued her passion for dental hygiene, earning her bachelor's degree. She dedicated her professional life as a dental hygienist for Dr. Greene in Xenia, where she became known not only for her expertise but also for her warm personality. Betsy's infectious spirit and remarkable ability to connect with others made her a bright light in the lives of her patients and colleagues; she never met a stranger. Throughout her life, she exemplified resilience and positivity, never complaining about anything even in the face of challenges.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Betsy was an avid bowler. Her passion for the sport led her to achieve extraordinary feats, including a Guinness World Record for her High Series score of 824 and another record for the remarkable achievement of getting 21 strikes in a row. These accomplishments were a testament to her skill and dedication. Additionally, her adventurous spirit shone through when she entered a raffle and won a new car, a memory that added joy and excitement to her life.
After her retirement, Betsy embraced the opportunity to travel across the country with her beloved husband, James "Jimmie" Corrigan. Together, they created cherished memories while experiencing new places and adventures. The love they shared was a foundation of her life, and his passing left a profound impact on her.
Betsy was a proud mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Teri (Rocky) Kilgore, and her son, Jeff (Marie Helton) Corrigan. Betsy was also a devoted grandmother to her grandsons, Noah (Brinley) Corrigan, Ethan Corrigan, Tyler Corrigan, and Josh Corrigan. Her family was her source of pride, and they often proclaimed she was the best mom in the world, a title earned through her unwavering love and support.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Lucile Moore; husband, James "Jimmie" Corrigan; and son, Mike Corrigan. Betsy's legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will forever cherish the moments spent with a truly remarkable woman. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her to approach life with the same vigor, joy, and kindness she shared with the world.
