POWELL, Bessie K.
Age 85, of Trotwood, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2015. She was born August 7, 1929 in Garden Creek, VA to the late, Thomas Jefferson and Mary Lowe.
Bessie retired after 32 years of service with K-mart Corp. in 1995.
She is also preceded in death by her 9 siblings.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Vernol "Burr" H. Powell; three sons, Gary Powell of Trotwood, Jerry (Kim) Powell of Huber Heights, and Terry (Diana) Powell of Kettering; grandchildren, Gary Powell Jr., Asia (Jason) DesRuisseau, Angel (Chris) Hoskins and Breanna Powell; and three great-grandchildren all from the Dayton area. Also surviving are several nieces and nephew in the states of Virginia and Mississippi. Living in the Dayton area is a niece, Barbara (Frank) Herzog; nephews, Everett Griffin Jr., Ernie (Patty) Griffin, Harold (Lisa) Griffin, Roger Griffin, Jeffrey Nichols, and Timothy Nichols.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home - North, 4104 Needmore Rd. Interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
