Bessie Mae Johnson

Bessie Mae Johnson, age 92 of Huber Heights, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on December 17, 2018. Bessie was born in Salt Lick, KY to the late Hillary and Stella Venable. She was a skilled cook and loved to make delicious meals for her family and loved ones. In her free time, Bessie enjoyed tending her garden and finding great bargains at garage sales.

She was an outgoing and fun loving woman who never met a stranger and would always bring a smile to your face. Bessie was a wonderful, loving, caring, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her son, Lonnie McCarty and infant daughter; son-in-law, Robert Fisher; and sisters, Josephine, Beulah, and Eunice.

Bessie leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband of 50 years, James Johnson; children, Gary (Judith) McCarty, Vickie (Lawrence) Vance, and Linda (Ed) Hoel; grandchildren, Steve (Tara) McCarty, Kathy McCarty, Phillip (Jennifer) Boyer, Jennifer (Dean) Zoller, Bonnie Rothen, and Edward Hoel, Jr.; sisters, Laurita, Wanda, and Martha; brothers, Clayton (Anna) and Raymond; many great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A service honoring Bessie's life will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Newcomer - North Chapel at 2pm. Visitation for two hours prior (12pm - 2pm). Interment to take place in Salt Lick, KY at a later date.
